Four decades of engineering excellence
From a single lathe in 1983 to one of the UK's most respected precision engineering firms. Built on expertise, driven by innovation.
Built on precision, driven by purpose
Northgate Engineering was founded in 1983 by William Northgate, a toolmaker who believed that British manufacturing could compete with anyone in the world. Starting with a single lathe in a Sheffield workshop, he set out to prove that precision and quality would always find a market.
In the early years, Northgate served local manufacturing businesses, building a reputation for exceptional quality and reliability. Word spread, and by the early 1990s, the company had secured its first aerospace contract — a turning point that would define our future direction.

The 2000s brought significant investment in advanced CNC technology, enabling us to take on increasingly complex work. In 2008, we moved to our current 50,000 sq ft facility at Innovation Park, tripling production capacity and establishing dedicated clean rooms for aerospace work.
Today, under the leadership of William's daughter Katherine, we continue to invest in our people, our technology, and our capabilities. Our team of 180 engineers and technicians serves clients across aerospace, defence, energy, and automotive sectors.
Four decades on, the founding principles remain unchanged. Every component we manufacture reflects our commitment to excellence, and every client relationship is built on trust and reliability.
