Wildflower Meadow
A south-facing slope on a property below the Malvern Hills. The owners had a paddock they no longer used and asked us whether we could turn it into something for pollinators that didn’t need mowing every fortnight.
We stripped the topsoil where the nutrient load was too high, then sowed a meadow mix tailored to the soil — yellow rattle, oxeye daisy, knapweed, wild carrot, scabious. Two seasons in, it now hums with bees and hoverflies from May to August. We cut it once in late summer and rake the cuttings off.
