A modern family house on a new estate, with a long, narrow garden running back to the boundary fence. Three young children, two dogs, and a brief that said “please make it durable.”
We split the space into three rooms: a stone terrace by the house, a generous lawn for football, and a planted area at the far end with a small pavilion the kids use as a den. Tough, kid-proof planting throughout — achillea, geranium, salvia, miscanthus — and a herb spiral by the back door that the family use most days.
